Intravenous Vitamins And Minerals

IV Therapy Neutral Bay SydneyThere is a need to refill our water-soluble vitamins, such as vitamins B and C every day. Though these vitamins can be gained from food sources such as meat, grains, pulses, fruits and vegetables, the majority of us do not always take enough of these on a daily basis. There are a number of environmental factors nowadays that deplete our body’s vitamin supply, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, taking caffeine, cooking, eating stale food produce, and stress.

The body needs vitamin C to recover from inflammation, thrombosis and ischemic damage. Working for healing the body’s tissues, vitamin C plays a profound role in the normal functioning of the heart and brain as well as our immune system. Though vitamin intake can be increased by eating more of certain foods like citrus fruits and vegetables or by taking oral supplements, taking too much can lead to digestive disturbances. Often the amount of nutrients absorbed through the gut is less than ideal, due to various digestive problems or absorptive limitations. A sure way to get a therapeutic dose of vitamin C is to have it injected straight into the body system through the veins. This is referred to as intravenous (IV) therapy.

Administering vitamin C through intravenous therapy is helpful when boosting the immune system of the body and with the following conditions: “Adrenal Fatigue”, Stress and burnout, Pre and post-athletic event / Performance, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Acute viral illnesses and colds, Anxiety, PMS, Anti-Aging, Migraines & tension headaches, Macular Degeneration, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Chronic disease, Allergies, Detoxification, Asthma, Chronic or acute muscle spasms.

Types of biomedical interventions

A powerful treatment option for a biomedical problem is IV therapy. It is very useful for certain chronic conditions as it works efficiently and achieves improvements. This is a way to enhance energy levels, improve total health well-being, treat specific medical conditions, or maintain optimal health to prevent future conditions. IV therapy is a treatment option.

Intravenous Chelation Therapy

Intravenous Vitamins And Minerals SydneyIntravenous Chelation Therapy (IVCT) is considered an alternative medicine with the purpose of eliminating toxins and “heavy metals” from the body.

Chela – is derived from the Greek language. It means a “claw”.

Chelation therapy refers to the use of an agent that “binds” to a substance with a “claw like” action. In this context, it is commonly used for heavy metal detoxification as IV EDTA or DMPS binds irreversibly to its respective heavy metal(s).

Vitamin C and trace elements, and substances such as DMPS or EDTA have been used as chelating agents.

It is surprising how someone can accumulate heavy metals in the first place. We are exposed to a variety of toxins in our day to day lives.  We can be exposed to mercury from eating tuna or king fish daily, eating foods produced in foreign countries, especially China that are not certified organic, or living in a highly populated suburb where lead has accumulated from the previous use of leaded fuels, it is possible you may have been exposed to a toxic load of heavy metals to a certain degree.

The gold standard for discerning whether heavy metal toxicity is present is to infuse IV DMPS (2,3-Dimercapto-1-propanesulfonic acid) and normal saline through a drip. A sample of urine collected after this is sent to a lab and the heavy metals are quantified. DMPS tends to push most heavy metals out of our system, as it has a high affinity for Mercury (Hg) and other heavy metals.

Intravenous Chelation Therapy involves administering a chemical solution known as EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) or DMPS directly into the body though injection into the bloodstream so it can bind with excess metals or in the case of EDTA which removes calcium from arteries. Once EDTA or DMPS binds with these metals in the body, it is then eliminated through the liver and the gut.

EDTA has been used to treat diseased arteries.

EDTA was initially used to treat lead toxicity, one of the side effects noted was a drop in blood pressure. IV EDTA was used as a way to treat high blood pressure until pharmaceutical agents were discovered and found to be effective.

Hence its use for its ability to remodel arterial wall tone.
